I have mixed feelings on bands that make the end of one song sort of fit into the other. Sometimes it takes the "oomph" out of the beginning of the 2nd song when you listen to that track alone. That's why there are some occasions where I have to go to the end of the first song and wait and see.
Some examples of that are:
Spoon: The Two Sides of Monsieur Valentine --> I Turn My Camera On Wolf Parade: Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts --> I'll Believe In Anything
Yesterday was great because I took off of work to go to a bar with a friend to watch the USA World Cup game. I had actually already set myself up to watch the game on my phone, but when my friend said she was down to do it, I said I would too.
For 90 or so minutes, it seemed like a horrible idea. It would be lame to have asked my boss to do this, and then show back up to work and it had all been for naught because the US drew and was out of the tourney.
In fact, I was pretty much catatonic the last 20 minutes of the game. I was thinking how I'd have this coming weekend ruined because the USA wouldn't be in the World Cup anymore, I'd have to throw away my new USA shirt, I'd be embarrassed to say I was from the USA when I was in Poland, I'd be 29 the next time the World Cup came around and I'd have bad memories of this one.
But, alas, like in life, sometimes things just work out. And I would have regretted forever if I had just seen the final score rather than had that experience. The 90 minutes of nerves and pain really make the relief worth it. Probably a moral in there somewhere.
Our bar went pretty mental. It was relatively full for being a Wednesday morning. A good business like crowd (like we were). I did my fair share of jumping around and my friend was jumping on the seats, and that. I even scraped my arm somehow in the melee. I didn't have my phone with me because I had lent it to a friend (to watch the game on), so I couldn't capture the action (and I wouldn't have been filming it whilst on the brink of elimination anyway), but this is a really cool video showing some of the goings-on elsewhere in the country.
