  • No Platitudes (I Promise)

There are some times when I think courtesy goes too far.

Example:  Everyday I have to make this left turn when leaving the work parking garage, and every day I sit and yield to the stream of cars coming from my right that are going straight.  I'm fine with it.  I'm fine with rules, and I'm fine with order.  So, on the occasions that someone decides to "be nice" and let me in, I get really mad.  Instead of just sitting and waiting for there to be no cars, I'm expected to look at everyone's face driving by and then read the sign language of them letting me in.  And then I have to wave thanks or whatever.  Not worth it.  That's why "right of way" rules were put in place in the first place.

In fact, today, that thing happened and I went a bit mental.  I've been known to "snap" in my day when I get aggravated, and as I noticed some car was waiting there waving his arms for me to go, and I just aggressively waved my arms back and mouthed "just fucking go".  Then the dude went.  I just hope he's no one I report to.

I get mad the same way when I'm walking 15 feet behind someone and then they decide to wait and hold the door open.  I have to speed up my walking, thank them, blah blah.  I'd rather just open the door myself.

It comes down to my own personal golden rule: The best thing you can do is look after yourself.

Things that are weird:  Guys that work out together.  Especially when one guy is cheering the other guy on while the guy working out is making really exaggerated/creepy faces.  Go back to the rule: look after yourself.  Don't stare at your weakling friend struggling.  Awkward.

It's important that people have things to look forward to.  Currently, I'm meant to go visit my former long-time roommate and friend Andres in Pittsburgh following the birth of his daughter (and my honorary goddaughter) sometime in August.  If you want to know more about Andres, scan this Xanga from 03-05.  Pranks and calamity galore.

But anyway, that's August. Too far.  And after completing a Marathon already, I'm over having training for races as a goal that keeps me distracted.  So now, luckily, I wait for company earnings calls.  I don't mean to brag, but my portfolio has been phenomenal.  To think, this all started as a bit of a gag circa 9 months ago when I bought stock at the company I work for just so I could say things like "Look, as a shareholder, I disagree with this."

    And now, to the moon.

P.S. - I like when I feel really attractive after a good haircut.
