Christmas. Something has got to be done about this. Honestly, is there a more anti-climactic thing currently in the Universe? It's like finally getting that date with Jessica Alba, but just ending up cold, alone, and newly infected with herpes.
I think Christmas lost its magic around 1994, also known as the last year anything good ever happened. I don't even think most people like Christmas, they just fake it for the kids. But kids these days don't appreciate Christmas that much either, because they already have the internet all year long that has everything good on it anyway.
I don't even like the break from work I get for Christmas. This time tomorrow I'll be so depressed about being back there that I'll be on the verge of sticking a pen through my thorax. I know this already, and I want to stick a fork through my abdomen just thinking about it. It's not worth it.
Maybe we should move Christmas to every other year. Or maybe once every 4 years, like the Olympics. Then people would be way more excited about it. It would mean loads more if people just sent me presents at random during like August. Then I'd be like, "Hey, I wasn't expecting this practical-yet-not-overly-exciting gift. I'm happy."
Every year is too often for some things. Christmas just sneaks up and leaves before you know it. And why is it so close to the other good holidays like Thanksgiving and New Year's. Talk about overload. It's like getting that wild annual orgy when you'd rather just spread out some standard one-on-one loving throughout the year. Romance works well for metaphors.
Not to call anyone out, but my Mom didn't even bother waking up to see my brother open his gifts. Not that she missed anything, he didn't seem too nonplussed about it. You ask for something, and you get it. Where's the sport in that?
Christmas is the worst time to get free days off from work anyway. It's too cold. I'm sure Australians appreciate it though. Southern Hemisphere gets all the breaks.
Playing some Wii. (20 years out and Mario is as frustrating as ever.)
