  • Running It In For 6

Today's a special day.  In fact, in some ways I appreciate it more than my birthday.

My 6 Year Blog Anniversary! Hooray!

Let's reminisce. I started this blog with a tongue-in-cheek post 6 years ago as a counter to a lot of my friends at the time who had started a page.  Needless to say, I outlasted them all!  Boom!  They all went out and got real lives, but not me.  I win.

It just shows my dedication to selfish endeavors.

It's funny because as much as I've changed in the past 6 years, at the core I'm the same guy.  At that time, I was a college freshman with a lot of hurdles and life experiences in front of me before graduation (unbeknownst to me at the time).

At that time I really had no money or anything going for me, so I entertained myself with pranks.  Like taking a giant trashbag and taping it over a guy's door at my dorm and then hanging a "quarantine" sign on it.  Classic.

But now, I do have a job and some good things going on, but I still love those sort of weird random things more than anything.

Case in point: this new employee we got at work the other day.

His name's Johnny.  I don't know why he wore a hat to work the first day, not very professional.  And he seemed to just stare ahead most of the day.  Didn't even react when people came to say hi.

Everyone seemed to like the old Balloon Personified gag at the office, and in case one of the bosses don't, I always prep a defense argument:

Happy employees work harder, faster, and better.  Happy people are less likely to commit suicide too, and a person committing suicide at work would be really bad press.  When an employee sees a balloon with a face on it, he automatically smiles, forgets about all his problems, and is filled with joy.  Then he'll work 63% harder for the rest of the day.

So, any time spent making a balloon man pays for itself 100x over with the positive influence on the office morale and teamwork and streamlining and all that.

Now the years are rolling by me
    They are rocking evenly
And I am older than I once was
And younger than I'll be, but that's not unusual
    No, it isn't strange
    After changes upon changes
We are more or less the same
After changes we are more or less the same
