  • Give It Until You Just Can't Give No More

So I registered for the Houston Marathon.  Kind of a big deal.  I never ever thought I wanted to do a Marathon when I first got into running - and honestly, I still don't.  But this other sucker from work signed up, and I refuse to be outdone.

Kinda crazy, the 22,000 spots for the Houston Marathon this year sold out in 2 days.  When the 18,000 spots sold out in 3 months last year.  My theory is that more people attack physical fitness for fun during "these economic times".  Because running around in circles is cheaper than going to Six Flags or something.  And it's cheaper to be fit and good-looking like me to attract women rather than showering them with gifts.

I have this awesome theory.  Why can't you run like a 10K and then turn in a certificate of completion to your Health Insurance company for a discount?  I think it's the most logical and good idea I've ever come up with.

Maybe I'm not a good example though, because I've done four 10K's and 2 half-marathons in the past year and a half or so, and I just had over $8,000 in medical bills.  When I only had to pay a couple hundred out of pocket.  So BOOM! all those comprehensive health insurance premiums just paid for themselves a few times over.  I dig it.

And speaking of health care, check out who I saw today:

That's right.  The bone doctor.  The perverted side of me wonders what bone he specializes in.

And I finally figured out how to get the full 2 megapixel versions of my camera phone pictures.  Between that 8 month moron session by me, and the debacle of trying to use superglue last night, I sometimes doubt my smartness.  But then I come to my senses and realize I'm great.

I'm so great in fact, that I've been BUYING music lately.  I guess I'm making up for my years (decades?) of piracy.  It's partly because I'm too lazy to try to steal stuff anymore, I like giving indie artists their proper monetary compensation, iTunes is easy, and a lot of the random stuff I like is hard to find via thievery in the first place.

Like this awesome band called The Books.  Today, I discovered that they are the perfect music to listen to while working.  It's like its own genre really.  Weirdo samples and random sounds and other crap spliced together into audio bliss.  And buying their music is still cheaper than what I blow taking the tollway on my 8 mile drive to work everyday, so no harm, no foul.
