  • People Are People

I'm kind of a big fan of people.  They interest me.  I like to know about people's lives and what's going on in their heads.  Alot of the times I like to walk around the office and just converse randomly.  I like asking stuff and learning.  I mean, the other day I learned that in China, they don't bow when they greet eachother.  They just shake hands like Americans.  But hugging isn't that common.

And I like to follow just random normal people on Twitter.   See what goes through people's heads.  I'll search for a random term like "tomato soup" and if someone posts something pretty cool about tomato soup I'll follow them.  And don't even get me started on people watching.  Sitting at an outdoor cafe with an adult beverage and just looking around is like heaven to me.

So yesterday I was like, "Hmm, these randomers I followed on Twitter are kinda interesting, maybe I should investigate if there are any cool people posting on Xanga that I've missed."  Then I found out that 95% of the people on Xanga are Asian teenagers.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.

A Moment In The Life:  Okay, so alot of the mornings I go into Kroger at around 6:20 AM before work.  I go in and get provisions for the day; usually gum and sometimes beef jerky.  So I walk in today and the chick working there looks over at me and is like "Cigarettes!?", so I shake my head 'no' and I keep walking.  And then again she yells "CIGARETTES!?" so I say "No!"  And I'm just thinking like, "What the fuck is with this lady? Does Kroger give commission now to whoever sells the most sticks?  What do I look like the fucking Marlboro Man coming in here first thing in the morning after a long night on the cattle drive on a massive nicotine fit?"  Then, of course, I realized she was talking to some guy a little further behind me.  Great.

    Goes Down Smooth

So then, after work, I go back to Kroger because I ran out of milk.  Mind you, I live literally 300 yards from this place so it's not that big of a deal.  But, as if God himself was leading me, I found maybe the greatest birthday card ever created.

    The Outside:

    The Inside:

And, as an added bonus, when you open it, it plays the sound clip of The Joker saying, "Let's put a smile on that faaace!"

So, of course, I bought it.  And no, I don't know anyone's birthday coming up.  And my birthday was 5 months ago.  Right now and for the foreseeable future it's sitting next to my TV as one of my lone living room decorations.  This is my life.

I love people watching also..like i'll sit at school and watch the people at the cafe or something but sometimes i think i take it too intensely and they look at me like a weirdo. So I try not to as often now. I guess my face must be scary!ha!

You can sign that birthday card from me to you--happy belated birthday.

I love that you yelled at someone who wasn't talking to you. And. True story--I know a Marlboro man. One of my neighbors modeled for them for a few years.

i completely agree with you about the whole peeking into normal people's lives thing... but you're right, xanga is a bad place to start looking unless you're an Asian teenager or a girl trying to foster an eating disorder. you're hilarious though, i'm glad i came and checked ya out. thanks for subbing. :)
