Now That's What I Call Xanga Vol. 1361
I was watching TV a while back and I saw a commercial for the music compilation CD "Now That's What I Call Music" and they were on volume 27.
Volume Freaking 27. Are you kidding me? I had volume 1. Then I figured out that it was average at best and I'd rather just download my music.
But 27 volumes is ridiculous. I don't even think there have been 27 good songs period since back then (1998).
I remember I got Volume 1 back on April 20th when I was in 8th grade. I know that because I was home sick and I was into MTV back then because I was like 14, and that's the age group where it's acceptable to like MTV. Anyway, I remember because I was watching TRL starring Carson Daly the day of the Columbine shootings. And I had told my mom earlier that day to buy me that CD as a present to help me out of my sickness.
I remember it had some cool songs like "MMMBop" and "Sex and Candy" and some Everclear songs and Fastball mixed in there. But it was pretty shocking and made me realize my age when I saw they were on Volume 27.
Upon my research to find those CD cover pictures, I realized that the UK version of the CD is actually up to 64. That makes sense since music from Great Britain is atleast 2.37 times better than the crap we're subjected to here.
Speaking of stuff on the radio that rules, I was berated by my favorite talk show host Jim Rome today. I've had my e-mails read in the past, and I've been hailed before. But today, Rome mentioned how he wasn't going to come in to work on his show Thursday and Friday, and I turned that into an awesome blast about Detroit unemployment.
He proceeded to castigate me and other fans who get pleasure from jokes about people dying or unemployment. But the fact of the matter is, he knows it's funny too and is just saying it tongue-in-cheek. If he didn't really like it, the e-mail screener wouldn't let it through, and he wouldn't read it on air to over 2 million listeners on over 200 stations across the country.
Anyway, they say there's no such thing as bad publicity, and it definitely helps get the great name TZ in Austin out there.
