  • You're Not So Radical

I've seen this flyer around school, and it kinda got the ball rolling in the Mouse Trap setup that is my brain.

That's not the flyer.  That's Mouse Trap.  I don't think I've ever actually played the game.  We always just set it up and watch it go.  But I digress.

This was the actual flyer in question.  WHY I RENOUNCED JIHAD
I'm proud of you for not dedicating your life to being a suicide bomber and/or terrorist and/or psychopath.  But I don't really care enough to hear you talk about it.  I've got one up on you, because I didn't have to renounce Jihad.  I never nounced it.

I'm going to give my own lecture called WHY I NEVER CHOSE JIHAD IN THE FIRST PLACE.  It's going to be great.  Here are some of my speaking points.
    1) I'm not a maniacal fanatical zealot that follows a religion that preaches hatred and violence.
    2) See point 1.

I can kind of understand how you can be indoctrinated into such beliefs and views if you are born into them.  But eventually we all reach pivotal points in life where you have gathered enough information to form your own opinions.  Case in point: the drastic changes you can see in my attitudes and views throughout my college life chronicled over the 4.5 years of this blog.

If someone wanted to recruit me as a suicide bomber, the conversation would go something like this.
Weirdo: Okay, we need you to put this bomb on and then go detonate over there.  I promise good things will happen afterwards in heaven and stuff.
Me: Yeah, I don't know, if it's such a good idea with cool rewards, why haven't you done it yet?
Weirdo: I definitely will soon but I have to recruit some people first, but I'll probably do it like right after you.
Me: Yeah, you know, I would, but I kind of tweaked my hamstring shooting hoops yesterday so I should probably let that heal itself up before I try anything too strenuous or suicidal.

I don't want to be "Bracket Guy", but I had predicted all 4 of the teams that won last night to be in the Elite 8.  But, the biggest thing is that I've actually had a good time watching these college basketball games.  I even move my bunny ears around and tune in.

Although I've lived for about 2 years without cable, I think I'll definitely get it when I start work.  A kickass flatscreen LCD TV with HDTV is the staple of any quality bachelor pad.  With the requisite Playstation 3 of course.  So much to buy, so little money.

Oh, and a new personal record three miles in 23:03 today.  So I got that going for me, which is nice.

And in contemplating the vast amount of knowledge I have to share with others, I've decided to expand my lecture series to cover more topics than just Jihadism.  I even made this cool flyer for it.

    A job well done.

Addendum:  I hadn't even really touched freeweights for about 1.5 months till tonight.  The extent of my upper body exercises would be my super pushup regimine and about a weekly romp into the weight room for biceps.  I decided to max out on the bench press just for kicks to check how my strength had maintained, and I got up 305 lbs.  I woulda tried for more, but I hate asking for a spotter.  So, that's apparently something else I got going for me.

And tonight I kinda realized all my different exercisings and trainings and workings out are kinda subconcious steps towards my childhood dream of becoming a superhero.  That explains my assortment of superhero related shirts and boxers too.
