I'm a superstitious guy by nature. Actually, it's a cross between superstitious and obsessive-compulsive.
Take the test I had tonight for instance. I made sure to wear my lucky shirt. How do I know this shirt is lucky? Let's look at my 6 tests in A-Chem during Summer 1 as an example.
I wore the shirt 4 times. Once I didn't wear it because I didn't yet realize it was lucky, and once I didn't because it was soiled. My 4 highest grades were - you guessed it - when I was wearing my lucky shirt.
So, I donned that today and I also sat in my lucky seat. In this particular test taking classroom, I've found that sitting in my "perch" at the back of the room has helped in the past. We'll see how it goes this time.
I made sure to eat an expensive "Golden Dragon" sushi roll today too. I ate that for the first time before my A-Chem final, and luck was definitely on my side. I got an ungodly 14 out of 15 True/False questions right that day. The "Golden Dragon" will be my official food if this trend continues.
Also, when I get a water from the machine at Gregory, I always click
B7. Why? Because Craig Biggio is #7. I used to alternate between B7 and B5 back when Bagwell still played. I can think of a few instances where this has resulted in homeruns.
Today even, I clicked B7 not realizing that the slot for B7 was out. The machine gave me my money back and the magic still worked. More on that in a second....
When I was leaving my test tonight, what did I see outside of the freaking CPE building but a freaking snake. A huge ass 4 foot long sidewinding snake skirting along the building. I went and took a picture with my camera phone, but in my excitement, I forgot to press the
save button. Doh!
Regardless, I saw that damned snake, and then he slithered into this hole in the wall. Strangely this hole leads directly to a 20 foot or so drop, so God knows what this snake did.
I'm not sure if seeing a snake after a test is good or bad. I'm going for good. I mean, how often do you see a damned snake?
Now, back to Biggio. I am driving home from my test, still experiencing the standard post-test giddiness plus the added giddiness of seeing the snake.
I'm listening to the Astros game during my 5 minute or so drive home, and what else would happen but Biggio comes up to the plate and hits a freaking grand slam!
I mean, honestly, lucky shirts, snakes, and grand slams. Weird, wild, stuff.
