  • Drunk Run

So today I get an email from school saying that traffic will be tight on March 31 because of some sort of Fun Run.  That's bad enough in and of itself.  As I've said since about 1st grade, running isn't fun, so there can't be such a thing as a Fun Run.  If I wanted a lame shirt that said "Steppin' Out", I'd buy one myself, I don't need to run for it.

But what's even worse about this, it's called the Sober Fun Run.  Yes, "On Saturday, March 31, please expect delays on campus beginning at 7:30am until 10am because of the Sober Fun Run."

So now we have to differentiate whether our races will be held sober or intoxicated?  What kind of precedent does this set?

"Hey did you sign up for the drunk Boston Marathon or the sober one?"
"Oh drunk for sure.  There's no way I'm gonna run 26 miles without a few beers in me."

I support non-belligerent running as much as the next guy, but that's a little ridiculous.

In other news, they have drained the pool. Yes. Apparently this is in response to the local hooligans who don't use the pool for swimming, but rather for holding cement bags and setting up floating targets for their beebee guns.

The hooligans have been found out it seems.  I heard the yokel maintenance man explaining to concerned parties why the pool was being drained and he as much as said that "the kid in 302 shoots beebee guns at it".  Well there you go.

Chilifest is this weekend and it should rock the house.  It was great last year, and this year we're staying both days and have an even more incredible roster of friends.  Jeffrey, Greg, Joey, Phil, Guidry, Steve... I mean are you kidding me?  With so much concentrated badassness in one place, I'm worried it'll put a rift in the space time continuum.

In other news, I ordered Day Watch. The sequel to the awesome book Night Watch I read. It should be here soon. War Russian Sci-Fi.
