As great as the internet is, it still can't find everything I want.
I read this strip in a Peanuts once at La Suprema probably 3 years ago and really liked it. Something the young Matthew Rice said a few weeks ago reminded me of it. Alas, I can only locate the dialogue but not an image of the script. It is poignant none the less.
(Charlie Brown and Peppermint Patty are sitting together under a tree, talking:)
Peppermint Patty: What do you think security is, Chuck?
Charlie Brown: Security... It's when you're a little kid, and you've been somewhere with your parents, and it's night, and you're riding home in the car, and you can sleep in the back seat. You don't have to worry about anything, your parents are in the front seat, and they do all the worrying. They take care of everything.
PP: That's real neat.
CB: But it doesn't last. Suddenly you're grown up, and it can never be that way again!
PP: Never?
CB: Absolutely never
PP: Hold my hand, Chuck
I really dig that.
Another example of art expressing my feelings is as follows.
Beavis is working at Burger World, and Butt-Head comes in to have some fun with him.
Beavis: Welcome to The World. Um, may I help you?
Butt-Head: Uhh, get me some nachos.
Beavis: Um, okay. Would you like some fries to go with that?
Butt-Head: Did I ask for fries? Dumbass.
That reminds me of when I bought a Cowboys hat the other day and the dude kept being like, "Would you like to join the members club? Would you like to buy this hat cleaner? Would you like to buy stock and/or government issued bonds?" And I'm just like, "Did I ask for hat cleaner? Dumbass."
Oh yeah. I found this license on the street today. I used all available internet resources including the UT website, facebook, google, phonebooks, etc. to locate this person, but to no avail. I would just mail it, but the address is in California. So, I figure she isn't there if she dropped her license on the street near my apartment. So, if you've seen her, let me know.
I'm making a swing to Nederland tomorrow, after approximately 2 months of away time. This will be a much needed replenishment of my soul.
