  Grey Sky Days

  A sky so grey I cannot remember the sun The trees have all surrendered If they could, they would run The wind is shrill and biting With a corpse-like cold Reminds me of my childhood Reminds me that I am old The air feels unnatural Uninviting, unknown The same air you find When you have strayed far from home A bird somewhere else Howls out at the sky My screams are internal But resonate just as high Life turns a little sharper A different contrast on the day When the air turns cold And the sky turns grey Michael Tworzydlo
