    Meshugina: Eggs and Ketchup

All apologies, I didn't get any sleep last night so my brain's sorta scrambled.

I felt an oncoming cold, so I went to Walgreen's at 5am to buy tons of supplies.  I've got the medicines, the sprays, the works.  I will beat this. Mark my words.

Every time a cold front comes in, I get sick.  Tried and true.

So, apparently, ever since I got into UT, the Registrar has had my birthdate as 08/02/1985.  Everyone knows that it is actually 02/08/1985.  This hasn't had any effects until recently, when Financial Aid could not process my FAFSA (first one I've done) until my birthdates on the FAFSA and with the Registrar match.

I called the Registrar and some newb or intern claimed I could just bring my license and change this error.  Upon showing up, I was told by these wenches that I need an original birth certificate or passport to change my birthdate with them.  Wow.  Talk about teabag.  So add that to the list of shit I have to do that I don't really want to do.

So our IM football team is getting together again.  Hopefully we can improve on our 0-4 record from last year, where I scored our teams only touchdown in the first 3 games.  We've got some new blood, we plan to practice, and we've got determination.  This is a formula for success.  I even got my summer work friend Eric (pretty tall and theoretically skilled) to join our team.

Let's see, what else.  My weekends look to be really relaxing.  I'm not even going to the game Saturday (too lazy to draw for a ticket), and I'm really not that enthused about UT football this year.  I guess I came in in '03, took my bumps, saw bad teams turn into good ones, then saw my guys win it all.  Ever since I got Vince Young promoted to starter by taping "VINCE" up on my 12th floor window, I was connected. Those were my Longhorns.

I think one reason is my lack of TV.  I barely know anything about the team since I don't watch any sports shows.  I'm also not playing Fantasy Football for the first time in many years.  This is also due to not knowing much because I don't waste my time staring at ESPN all day.

Also, now that I ride my bike to school, my time listening to sports radio has fallen dramatically.  I guess I'm out of that loop.  So be it.

I finished Middlesex today.  Great book.  I can see why it got so many best book of the year nods in 2002 and also why it won the coveted Pulitzer prize for fiction.

Now, to compare it to The Time Traveler's Wife. They were both big reads, well over 500 pages.  Still, I gotta say I liked TTTW more.  Middlesex was really quality, but what can I say, I'm a sucker for romance.  Being that TTTW was largely a love story, well, that got me.  Also, the protagonist in TTTW seemed more indentifiable than the one in Middlesex.  This is largely because I am indeed not a hermaphrodite.  Middlesex is still way up high on my favorite books of all time list.  Admittedly, this list isn't as big as it should be, but again, without a TV, it looks to grow this year. Next up, a shorter read (~260 pages) The Confessions of Max Tivoli.

Well there's a diary-esque post if I've ever seen one.

    P.S. -
